The Royals Autumn Open Meet 2017

Rushmoor Royals Open Meet - Results

Last Saturday, 11th January, 51 Kingston Royals swimmers travelled the short distance down to Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre for the Rushmoor Royals Level 3 Meet. There were a total of 119 PB's achieved by the swimmers across the day's competition and 21 medals were won (5 Gold, 9 Silver, 7 Bronze). There were a total of 37 Surrey Qualifying Times achieved on the day with 4 swimmers achieving their first Surrey times of the year - congratulations to Olivia Sutton, Tom Hill, Kaiser Hussein, Liam Causevic.

Thank you

A big thanks to all those who signed up to, and used, Easyfundraising over the Christmas period. We raised nearly £250 from mid-November to early January which will be put to good use for the benefit of all our swimmers. Over the last year or so we have raised over £550 through easyfundraising. So if you haven't signed up yet, please do take a minute to do so - there is a link on the front page of the website. As the name suggests, it is a really easy way to make a bit of extra money for the club! Happy shopping...

Portsmouth New Year Open Meet- Results

Portsmouth Level 1 Open Meet attracted a strong field from across Southern England.  For some of our younger swimmers it was their first experience of competing in a 50m pool and for our older swimmers a chance to blow away the Christmas cobwebs.  The outstanding swimmer from the club was Yasmine Hamerlaine who won 4 gold and 3 silver medals.  The table below describes all of our medal winners.  Many personal bests were also achieved; well done to all those that competed.  The results will be published on Hy-Tek when we receive them.

Jack Petchey Money Spent

The club is delighted to report that the Jack Petchey money awarded to Nicky Phillips has been used to purchase a stock of exercise mats for use at the Malden Centre. As you can see below, the swimmers who train there in the mornings are already putting them to good use during their land based sessions.

Victor Ludorum and General Information

As some of you may have noticed the results of the club Victor Ludorum 'Winner of the Games' competiton have been posted on the website and leisure centre noticeboards.  The competition recognises the most competitive swimmer in their age group based on their age ast at 31st Dec. The presentations will be made at the Club Gala on the 31st January where your photograph will be taken, framed and put up on the wall beside the trophy cabinet (not all on the same night).  Please make sure you have a KRSC top to wear (old or new).  We have also updated the Competition Calendar so that you can plan your Open Meets; some of the dates are still to be confirmed but most are known.  If you think you are likely to be selected for the Junior Swimming League please keep these dates free.  Please also note that the Surrey Swimming have updated the details for the Surrey County Championships with draft event dates and timings now published.

Kingston celebrates local sporting heroes

Kingston has paid tribute to winners and unsung heroes from the borough’s sporting community. A host of young athletes, coaches and club volunteers were joined by the Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Penny Shelton, at the annual Borough Sports Awards to celebrate their achievements and contributions. Winners included KRSC's own Thomas Urry who won Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year  !  Well done Thomas from all at KRSC !

New Kit

We are very pleased to announce that the website for our new kit is now up and running and orders can be placed from today. The kit is made from modern, technical materials designed to keep swimmers comfortable poolside as well as looking smart/uniform when representing the club, both in and out of the pool. There is a personalisation option on many of the items and we would certainly recommend that you take this up - it will help in reuniting kit and owner!

NASL Division One Final - Results

Last night the club competed in the National Arena Swimming League Division One West final at the Spectrum leisure centre Guildford. The team raced magnificantly and finished 3rd on the night with 171 points, which meant we also finished third in the league behind Newbury and Portsmouth; we had expected 4th or 5th based on coach analysis. All our swimmers gave it their all, a few highlights included wins for the 9-11 boys (still undefeated in any competition in the last few years); the 12-13 girls who massively improved their placings and times from the previous galas; and the 14-15 boys who competed brilliantly against some big men.  As we were hosting the gala there was a lot of work involved to make sure it ran smoothly and it wouldn't have done so with out the support of our parent volunteers and officials, including Fran Handley, Anton and Helen Jeffery, James Harman, Gordon Frame and everyone else who gave up their time to help out.

London Region Winter Championships 2013

Cameron Frame (1500m Freestyle) and Finn Harman (50m Freestyle) won Bronze medals at this weekend's London Region Winter Championships. Other swimmers competing at the championship meet included Thomas Urry, Jack Walden, Kate Boden, Lily Anderson, Izzy Hyatt and Caitlin Thomson.  Well done to all the swimmers that attended the meet.

Jack Petchey Regional Celebration Event

All of our Jack Petchey award winners, past and present, were invited to attend the Jack Petchey Regional Celebration event last night at the Civic Suite in Wandsworth Town Hall.  This event is designed to celebrate the achievement of many young people, and Leader Award winners, from across the London region. Each of our award winners received a boxed gold medallion from Jenny Pacey (an Olympic athlete, model, fitness coach as well as starring in the Gladiators TV programme as Enigma) to signify their success. Our award winners took the opportunity to show us all how fantastic they look out of the pool and a fun time was had by all.  KRSC would like to thank the Jack Petchey Foundation for their support and recognition of our young people and we look forward to attending future events with next years winners.

Junior Swimming League - Dates

The dates for next year's Junior Swimming League (JSL) are: Sunday 27 April, Sunday 18 May and Sunday 29 June.  It would be great if you could make a note of these in your diaries so that if you are picked to represent the club you are available. For those unfamiliar with the JSL, it is a league for swimmers aged 9-12 years old which comprises three galas at which KRSC will swim against other clubs also in our league which is Division One of the "M11 Corridor" league.  Winners of the league go on to compete at regional and national league finals.

National Disability Championships

Thomas Urry capped a good weekend of racing at the National Disability short course Championships in Sheffield by breaking 35 seconds for his 50m freestyle.  Thomas produced a PB of 34.67 in his last race in the two day competition.  On the previous day Thomas looked on course for a PB in 200IM but was disqualified on the fly leg.  He just missed a PB in 100m freestyle but then broke his previous mark of 1.19:69  when he anchored the London team home to silver medal in 400m freestyle relay.  The regional team which Thomas has captained for the past year, achieved its highest ever finish in the event with fourth place.

Haslemere Haul

The Haslemere Christmas Meet was well attended by Kingston Royal's swimmers where we won 46 golds, 29 silvers and 26 bronzes, far too many to list here.  A lot of personal bests and Surrey Qualifying Times were also achieved. Well done to all of our swimmers.  The results will be published on Hy-Tek when we receive them.

Club Champs 400IM - Results

Well done to all those swimmers who competed in the 400m Individual Medley on Sunday night. It is a difficult event and there were a few tired swimmers getting out at the end of their heats.  Thank you to all the parent helpers and officials who make the gala possible. Two club records were achieved; Rafe Bletso broke the 10 year old boys record, in a time of 5:59.97, which had stood since 2005; and Lily Anderson the 14 year old girls record, in a time of 5:21.44, which had stood since 2011. Congratulations must also go to Filip Blazevic who got his first Surrey Qualifying Time.
