Three medals for KRSC's Penny Webster at FINA World Masters Championships

Congratulations to two of Kingston Royals’ masters swimmers, Penny Webster and Liz Oliver, who travelled to Riccione, Italy last week for the FINA World Masters Championships and proved that Kingston has some of the best masters swimmers not just in GB, but across the world!   Penny, who is well known to us all as head of our Cadet scheme, won silver medals in the 800m freestyle and the 3k open water event (the first open water race she has swum).  She also picked up a bronze in the 400m freestyle and came 5th in the 200m freestyle.  Meanwhile Liz came 17th in the 400m freestyle, 27th in the 200m freestyle – where she was the first Brit past the post – and 38th in the 100m freestyle – this time as 2nd GB swimmer to finish.  Over 9,000 competitors took part in the event which attracts swimmers from around the world in age categories from 25 years up to 99 years - Penny swims in the 70-74 age category, while Liz swims in the 50-54 age group.
