Juniors

About this Squad

Juniors Squad is the first squad focused on developing competitive swimming within the main club squad structure and the first squad at which we encourage swimmers to enter externally run Open Meets.

Progressing on from the Academy Squads, swimmers will continue to develop their swim skills in all strokes, so that a strong IM base is achieved, while being challenged to develop their aerobic capacity and speed.

The competitive focus in this squad is team based and built around Club Championships and Junior Club Galas. Swimmers may also be considered by the coaches for selection to the clubs Junior National Swimming League teams – of which the club runs two, to widen the team opportunities available to all swimmers.

Swimmers progress from Junior Squad to either Junior Performance or Age Group Development, based on the set criteria for each squad, and coaches will assess swimmers on an individual basis to decide which squad best suits the current development needs of each individual swimmer.

Swimmers are expected to be polite and mannerly toward both their squad mates and the coaching staff.

Swimmers will be encouraged to demonstrate the correct training attitude, behaviour and Kingston Royals team spirit at all times.
